While in Alaminos in the Philippines, I visited the local elementary school during their "Bright Child" lunch hour. After a special presentation by the children, lunch began.
Popantay Elementary School in Pangasinan is currently part of the "Bright Child" feeding programme whereby the school provides a full meal for each child at lunch time. On this particular day the children were eating rice, chicken with malungay diningding - a sort of regional soup. It was quite a feast and very tasty!
As a result of the feeding programme, health and attendance is better as well as academic results.
