Lamu

Lamu town, on Lamu Island in the Indian Ocean, was founded in the 14th century and is Kenya's oldest living town and the best-preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa. There are no cars on Lamu and people get about on donkeys. "A man without a donkey is a donkey" is an old Swahili saying on Lamu island.
